THE durians that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and his Singapore counterpart Lee Hsien Loong feasted on during a retreat in Langkawi recently were specially brought in from Balik Pulau, Penang.
The Chinese daily, Kwong Wah Yit Poh reported that the “king of fruits” was taken to the island via a helicopter. The 200 durians which are of popular varieties cost a whopping RM26,000.
A spokesman for the durian feast said the fruits were selected on Monday.
