Tun Mahathir showing improvement at IJN

Press Statement issued by the National Heart Institute (IJN) at noon today, 17 May:

"YABhg Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad spent another uneventful night at the Cardiac Care Unit.

Dr Mahathir underwent routine investigation and treatment and continue to make steady positive progress.

The difficulty of breathing was caused by lung congestion associated with myocardial infarction. In addition, Dr Mahathir has an exacerbation of underlying basal bronchitis of the lungs.

With the positive response, his medication and treatment is being
gradually tapered down. He is xpected to continue with chest physiotherapy and light exercises. He is expected to remain at the CCU for continued monitoring and
treatment.

Doctors have also advised Dr Mahathir against receiving any visitors apart from close family members."
